Fall is here and if you didn’t hear the latest news from VMware Explore, vSphere 8 has been announced. Great news for those of us itching to upgrade before year’s end but with that new version, vSphere 6.5 and vSphere 6.7 has been End of Life’d.
vSphere 6.7 ends General Support
vSphere 6.7’s end of life for General Support is October 15th, 2022. Basically now. What this means is no more patches or bug fixes will be released for vSphere 6.7. For customers with support agreements, Technical Guidance will be available until November 15th, 2023.
Technical Guidance allows current customers to contact VMware.com and open up cases (Web Only) and will be provided best-effort support. No escalations to engineering since no additional patches or bug fixes will be released. There are occasional security patches released during this phase but only for the most severe and far-reaching vulnerabilities.
What Now?
If you are still on vSphere 6.7 (or heaven forbid 6.5!), you should be actively working on a plan to upgrade to at least vSphere 7.0. This will keep your environment supported and protect the value of your Support Subscriptions allowing your team to phone VMware in the event of an issue.
vSphere 7.0 will have General Support until April 2nd, 2025, and then Technical Guidance until April 2nd, 2027.
If you would like NTS to help with your upgrade planning or execution, please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of service.
